  • Hog style harnesses are a single piece of webbing threaded through the backplate, and a crotch strap attached to the bottom. Comes with 5 d-rings - left and right shoulder, left hip and front and back of crotch strap. Also, the inflator hose is held by a bungee cord.

The deluxe ones are those with the padded straps, quick release systems, inflator hose keepers, etc.

I use hog style, because it's easy to pack, maintain, and relatively cheap! It's also more durable and simpler to don imo.

  • I'm for one pc (HOG style) harness.  In line with my diving philosophy and I particularly like the clean, uncluttered look and feel.
So they call it a 'FACT' coz someone made some statements on a 'FACT SHEET'? hummm...

Diverite (as with many other brands) do have several options for their backplates which usually includes the 'HOG' style harness.

  • I chose the elite 2 and am very pleased with it having just dived it for a week in Bali.

Find the adjustable straps useful for tightening the rig to ensure a streamline fit.

  • Backplate not uncomfortable? It seems uncomfortable... And I read that this allows you to carry less stuff but what if I like to carry stuff but don't like leg pockets?

  • its quite comfortable on its own. but i use a backpad, and i put a smb in, so it becomes even more comfortable.

guess u can clip a couple of items like pointer or spool to the D rings, wont look like a christmas tree
