  • Frog is made in South Africa, not Taiwan, if I'm not mistaken.

My Made in Taiwan HOG singles wing has 100+ dives on it and still looks good as new. It has been rock solid (quality wise) for me thus far. The materials and workmanship is great for the price.

Btw Taiwan has become very good at manufacturing today. "Made in Taiwan" no longer carries the same connotations of shoddily manufactured products like it used to when I was a kid. Today, high quality tools like Craftsman and other brands exceeding European DIN standards for hand tools, are being manufactured in Taiwan, as are Scuba Pro regulators (Taiwan and Italy).

  • plenty of brands with backplate set ups
i think oxy cheq is sold at friendly watersports
    seems compact enuff
diverite has been wooing with good entry price levels on their divegearexpress site

i think both are fairly decent so it's just the slight bits that u may think about
    - other gear u like to purchase e.g. pouches, straps, clips in the same brand, crotch strap
    - service parts
    - colour combinations
    - modification to hose

what i look at also are the cam bands (not all brands use s/steel type), the strap quality, wing shape / air dump, read dump position, inflator hose length and type..

  • Personally think that DR might be a better choice. Currently using a FROG, but there is no more local distributor, so if any goes wrong, you either need to get replacement parts from MAlaysia or Thailand

I thought diveshop@sg is the distributor? They've stopped?

Yea, it was them and Orpheus dive, but apparently they don't bring it in anymore. Had to get my inner bladder replaced, so ended up had to order from Thailand..

  • Hi everyone.

I hv a OMS backplate BCD and I'm looking to buy a Diverite EXP wing to fit onto the backplate. I'm looking to reduce the profile and weight :) does anyone know if the EXP wing fits the OMS backplate? Thanks!

Yup they are, backplate and wing compatibility tend to be rather universal. There are multiple ways to attach the wing to the backplate - thread the cam-bands through the wing and backplate, install bolts to hold them together or use a single tank adapter (STA).
