Worth selling broken (inflator) BCD?

  • Hi All,

I have two BCDs that both are broken, the inflator has come off completely from the vest on both of them. Is there anywhere I can sell them (and if so, how much?) or shall I just discard of them? Its 2 Sea Quest pro QD, one old much used and one fairly new rarely used, both else good condition.

  • Inflators are not too expensive. Consider replacing them and advertising them as having new Inflator.

  • Any shop willing to buy the BCDs? I dont want to spend the money repairing and then trying to sell. Else can I sell them as is on the open market? What would be market price?

  • Hi vsingapore,

I highly doubt any shop in Singapore would want to buy broken/2nd hand BCDs, whether it's been repaired or not.

I also don't think any end-user would want to buy an old BCD that has been fixed in that manner as well. While the BCD may work fine after repair, the fact that the bladder has been destroyed around the inflator hose is a sign of age and could possibly mean that the other remaining dump valves might soon go as well.

In my opinion, only repair the BCDs if you plan on keeping them and using them yourself. I personally don't think you'll be able to find any buyers who would take on the BCDs. (Unless it's possibly an uneducated buyer and you were selling them off really cheap :P)

    Good luck! ;)

  • Dive Asia - my thought as well. Thank you. I will dispose of them both.
