just fyi - if possible avoid the Mares Nemo Wide (i got that )
bought becos of nice big screen and buttons BUT after some time the plastic buttons are hard to press properly and seems like the battery doesn't last that long.
Plus, got miffed the first thing an instructor asked me during an LOB was, "Nice comp, can it do gas switch?" I was like , "D-MMIT i forgot about that!" So now for any mixed gas can only use it as a bottom timer/gauge.
Big ones I am aware of are Galileo, UWATEC, LiquidVision and VR3.
Just general though - for watch-type i guess one does not really need to take off to wear wetsuit since it's smaller. just squeeze it through in and out the sleeve when suiting! my future computer might be a sunnto which can do a gas switch. problem i have with it is that it is conservative and locks out, cannot reset in an event one forgets to set the gas mix correctly. problem.
Hey Limk, I think Big refers to those wrist mounted non 'watch' (D4,D6,D9) like dive comp, such as the vyper, zoop kinda comp. Those you mention are what antacid refer to as 'underwater' bricks!!! But they are nice..
The gas switching suunto u mention I suppose you are referring to HelO2? I'm using one and unlike the other Suuntos, u can actually reduce its conservatism. I have yet to do trimix (my 2011 goal lah
), but I read from reviews that at certain depth range, it can actually be more aggressive than the VR3 (or liquidvision cannot really remember) when set to P-2.
And as for lock out.. I think you need to be careful with your dive planning before you download the plan to the divecomp. Anyway, if the gas u carry is different from what is set on the dive comp.. u will be pretty screwed and dive comp locking out should be the last of your concerns..
