Dear Divers,

We have few vacancies left for this special long weekend LOB trip to Tioman and Kuantan. Special highlight of the trip will be the Kuantan Wreck and Varella Rock and possibly Varella wreck.

From now till end of this season, there are only 2 long week ends left that have the opportunities to go as far as Kuantan wreck. If missing these 2 weekends, will have to wait till next year if interested to dive Kuantan wreck.

Even for Tioman area during this trip, we will be diving sites like Tiger Reef, Labas, chebeh, Bahara rock, these are  beautiful dive sites where usually not easily reachable through Land based trip.

Specially 20% discount for Scubasg forumers, few vacancies left, contact me fast to avoid disappointment.

This will be the only trip MV Andaman Tritan is going to dive Kuantan Wreck and Verella Wreck (if can locate the wreck) this year, because my partner insists on going Anambas during SG50 long weekend. This is also my first trip to dive Kuantan area.

I have invited a professional photographer Mr. Bertrand to give some UW photography talks during the trip and he will provide advice to divers who has questions about UW photography.  I will arrange a computer in the saloon, after every dive, we can share our photos and discussion, I will bring some video torch and strobes so we can try and experience difference setup.

You can know more about his profile from the links below:

In order to show that skills is as important as the equipment, his photos were taken with DSLR as well as Sony RX100:

Hi All,

It was a successful trip, I believe all divers were very happy and satisfied, if you agree and support me, say something here to support me.

We started with usual Tioman trip routine and arrive in the morning, first check out dive at Bahara Rock.

We then proceeded second dive at Sipadan Wreck, this is a nice wreck next to Tioman island, main deck is at about 31meter and bottom about 40meter there is a decent line to help divers getting in and out of the wreck. refer to the follow short video of the wreck.

We then dove Tiger Reef, when we arrive at the reef, couldn't find the buoy due to high tide and strong current, the buoy was submerged under water,  but we were able to locate the reef with our depth sounder. Followed by Labas and night dive at Labas.

The highlight of this trip was the Kuantan and Varella Wreck. We did 2 dive at Kuantan Wreck in the morning and move on to Varella Wreck, we were lucky we managed to locate the wreck, there was another LOB arrived early but they couldn't find the wreck and when we located the wreck and tied the buoy and decent line, the other LOB also Chiong in and clouded the whole wreck with 2 LOB full of divers.

Kuantan Wreck
==========
This is a very nice wreck worth going, it is 90meter long oil tanker laying sideway at the depth of 24 meter and the other side of the wreck is at 14 meter. It is big and complete wreck full of corals and fishes, there are many opened compartment that it is possible to do panatration. Vis wasn't very good and current was moderate but strong at the surface. Due to shallow depth of the wreck, divers can maximize the bottom time to explore the wreck fully.

Varella Wreck
=========
The wreck is quite broken down but the gun mount and the 2 Anti aircraft guns are still in good condition. it is also a worthy wreck for those who like to dive wrecks.

It was original planned to do a night dive at the Varella island, but due to strong current and wave, we have decided to abandon the dive and sailed back to take shelter at Tioman island for the night.

Another highlight of the trip was the professional photographer who have given talks, giving advices to the divers during the trip to help them improve the UW photography skill and finally sharing his photos with the group.

For those who are interested to visit Kuantan and Varella Wreck, look out on our schedule next year, and hope that the wrecks are still safe from the hand of the salvager and don't get into the faith of 7th Skies Wreck.

KP videoing the wreak.  ;D

Picked up lots of tips from Bertrand Chauvel.  At least I know what I am doing now... hahaha...

Better still, he was my dive buddy for the trip  :P  He told me he was quite stressed as I was shooting his action underwater...  ::)

One last thing, i realised my laptop screen cannot make it... All my pictures looked uglier then they actually are....  sad... :'(

Overall good trip by KP.  Good food for the whole trip, dived on sites as planned with manageable conditions.  Lots of sharing of knowledge by KP and fellow divers.

Only thing is dunno when I can dive again..   :'(
