Nicholas_T96:
Does anyone knows will there be GST or other Tax incurred when i buy things online?
The item that i am going to buy is an aeris elite T3 with transmitter that cost USD $526.95. Will there be tax incurred for my parcel? If yes how many % will the tax be? Thanks in advance!

If the item commercial value is more than $400.00, you will need to pay for GST about 7% of your goods value..

logic8482:
A 7% GST will be incurred at customs on anything dutiable over SG$400. This amount will include the cost of shipping as well (so a SG$350 item with SG$51 shipping charge would still have to pay GST).

We've bought computers from www.diveinn.com before which ships by DHL.  DHL pays the GST at customs for you and delivers you package, you then get a bill from DHL a couple weeks later and have to pay for the GST, plus a DHL service charge.

In your case, I'd imagine you'd pay 7% GST on roughly SG$675 + the parcel's shipping cost if its listed on the package (at least SG$50).

All the gory details are here:

Well...you could get the seller to underdeclare the value but (I think - please correct if wrong) the risk is that you wont be able to claim as much insurance if your package is insured and your item goes missing.
