if its light scratches on the surface.. then probably the water is able to cover it when underwater.  that we can try out just in a swimming pool and take a picture...

if the scratches is deep, then polishing is needed.  The polishing is probably going to be on the part that is scratched, which will create an uneven surface on that part.  then its no longer curved.  then you may see a distorting in the image at that point.  This is the cheaper way to do it.. and preferred on scratches at the side of the lens..which distortion is maybe cropable.  but, if you can crop it, why do and polish it?!?!

if you polish the whole lens/dome, then it will cost you quite a bit and the person must have good 'kang hu' to do a good job.  Then they have to add in a layer protective coating to it.  everything in the cost will be high...
plus, as its for diving, if you polish a layer (since it a deep cut), the interigy of the lens/dome is compromise.  it probably will cost bad quality in the image or the lens might even crack when in pressure.

imo, too many factor to influence the lens/dome if you go through polishing... and to find the 'kang hu' uncle/auntie to do it.. i think is the most difficult part.

maybe if it a dome...make this..

Lolzzzz(the pix)
Mine is a wide angle lense with a flat surface. It looks like alot of "dots" on the surface of the lens. Quite irritating off water. Have yet to try in water. A fren gave it to me so im wondering if there is anyone who can polish it to a certain extend?? Know anybody?
