To be honest and having lived in 7 different countries, I have to say the diving industry in Singapore is probably the biggest I have seen.
To clarify from the previous post, I am in no ways suggesting that only bad reviews should be posted.. probably every single diveshop would have at least one complaints otherwise. The point is to share both good and bad, in my opinion there is no point in doint either good or bad review only.
And the reviews should not only be just about wether the reg was adjusted properly when it was given back to the owner but also how is the customer service in case it wasn't.
In the case of racerx, he felt his reg wasn't set correctly and said the guy who did the service at the shop didn't seem to have a clue when he brought it back to point out that the reg wasn't breathing as well as it used to be.
If I was to service an aqualung reg and I read this post I'd rather not service my reg at all or do it myself which would in turn affect these peoples income. If however there were other reviews providing good feedback about that or another particular shop, I'd know where to go for a potentially good service and would spend my money on it.
If indeed one particular service technician or shop has bad reviews constantly, it might be a good thing for them to have an incentive to better service the regs for which they are getting paid for, or indeed get themselves other occupations.
As divers life depend on these units, it it not acceptable that someone who is not competent in properly servicing regulators find themselves doing this for a living. Hence the usefulness of providing feedback.
I personally service my regs myself to be the only one liable for the quality of my reg servicing so I'm not really concerned by that issue but if I was going on a divetrip once or twice a year and had paid hard earned cash to service my expensive regs just to end up having to rent the lower end rental ones because of the latter not functioning properly due to a poor service, I'd not be impressed and probably had wished to know of a place that is known to do a good job at servicing my regs.
