According to eyewitness, they did have an SMB and was already on the surface waiting to be pick up by their dive boat. The speedboat was too fast and the captain didn't see them and sliced them over.

If you have been to Phi Phi you would know SMB is almost useless there. Once, my SMB was ran over by a dive boat and almost got tangled by the propeller. I think it's common down there.

Very angry after reading, making a statement

Rc SWEARED to strike Phi Phi off his dive list for 3 years starting from 5/2/16.

That's what the government wants. They don't give a shit about divers. Just read all the recent diving news in Phuket. Anyway why bother dive in Phuket? It's the same thing in Tioman and Dayang.

Had similar experience, was snorkeling at a site where speed boat are not allowed and they are on the outside in a circle of buoy. I made a free dive down and when I surface, a speed boat hit my hand and back. Was luck no injury as brush pass the boat only. These speed boat driver need to be teach a lesson.

Perhaps I'm too timid, but I prefer not to see photos like that.
