  • Heard from sources that all diving activities are to be halted till further notice. Would be great, if they actually came up with a timeline for developments on Aur/Dayang, but I guess that would be asking too much.

  • After meetings with the Johor Marine Dept they are considering and will be making significant changes to the marine park fee issues. It sounds like these changes could be on a case by case basis with dive centers. The RM200 fee was apparently meant to be per week, not per day but then got changed but after a lot of talks, they are now considering lowering this hopefully to RM50 per day. Nothing is confirmed yet but it is definitely in progress. This is mainly for the islands around Besar, Rawa etc. Not sure if Aur will have the same rules.

  • Almost exactly as I clicked 'post' I received an update that all talks have come to a halt and the park fees will remain at RM200 per week.

  • Update.

The control of the Johor Marine Park fees are being transferred from the National Parks dept to the local government. The Sultan will have no say in the new fees, which are rumoured to be much lower than the current fee, perhaps RM50 per day.

This will come into effect June/July time.

Again, not sure if this affects Aur/Dayang.
