Sipadan Permit System
« on: 14 May 10, 17:39 »
Is it possible to apply permit for Sipadan yourself. A quick with a few shop here it is not possible and offeer a 4 or 5 days package. Even if I am not keen on diving on the other sites, I will have to go for the package.

No its not possible to apply the permit yourself. You need to go through one of the dive operator. If you want to dive sipadan only without going to other sites, not sure if thats possible also. Why dont you PM billabongscuba or sipadanscuba, there are a member here. maybe they can help you with it.

DIN got it exactly right. There are at times more than 1000 divers here and each and every one of them wants to dive Sipadan only. Only 120 divers are allowed to go there each day however.
The only way for the registered Sipadan operators to give every diver an equal chance of diving Sipadan is by packaging it together with some other islands. Every operator uses a different system to allocate the Sipadan permits but the bottom line is always the same, the more days you dive the more often you'll get to Sipadan.
At Sipadan Scuba we use an online system so we can actually guarantee your Sipadan days. You'll know exactly on which days you'll get to dive Sipadan right from the moment you make the booking. We also have 3 specialty courses that are being conducted at Sipadan: the PADI Nitrox, PADI Deep and PADI Cavern Diver
If Sipadan Scuba is fully booked to Sipadan on a specific date our online system will let you know that when you try to make your booking. That way you can try different dates to find availability, just like when searching for flights from eg. Singapore to KL on AirAsia or Tiger.
Each operator has been allocated a specific number of permits to Sipadan. If one operator is full it doesn't necessarily mean that all operators are full at a specific date. Always try to avoid peak travel periods to dive Sipadan more often.

hi sipadanscuba
i've been recommended to dive with you guys by my mates who dived with you 2 years back. its just that I was told that all the dive sites is nothing compared to sipadan. So i hope to skip the rest of the dive sites altogether and just dive at sipadan only. i might not be able to stay long (3 days diving max) due to work commitment. it be great if i can have 2 sipadan day dives in 3 days. i'll keep my option open on the 3rd. is it possible?

Hi Roberto
There is only 1 way to do it: Book the PADI deep diver course (1 day at Sipadan) and the Nitrox diver course (1 day at Sipadan) at RM850.00/each.
If you can plan your trip to be between Oct.15-Dec.15 it is a lot easier to fit you in more often and it will generally be cheaper is this is traditionally our quiet time of the year due to lack of public holidays in the region.

Another advise when you are at the dive centre of the resort, be nice to people, smileeee. Getting angry or screaming will not help.
