  • I agree its the ability of the camera that matters. I figure, if I am going for G11 setup, I will probably need to invest in the pelican and that might be a problem since I will have to carry on my reg onboard as well.

The OEM tray is a very good prospect right now. Thanks. I will probably go down and talk to them.

I believe u'll need to modify the OEM tray to fit Ikelite 2 screw setup.

Were u there at the shop yesterday afternoon?  If you are, I think we met.   :D

Didnt know about this, do you have the same OEM tray as diver-hloc?

I was there on Wednesday afternoon looking at the DX 2G. Were you there on Thurs or Wed?

You don't really need a Pelican case for it.... Pelican case while good, is also $$$ and heavy. I basicly travel with my Arm and Trays (plus tools for maintance) inside a bag that used to hold my sport shoes. The strobe and casing/housing is each, kept inside a soft cloth bag (to prevent scratches), and then kept inside a plastic "lock lock" brand case that you can buy at NTUC (many size to chose from). Add some foam padding around the inside of the "lock lock" case... and you'll have an inexpensive yet light protection case.

Once you have your Strobe and Camera + Casing/Housing.... Just bring both down to ScubaCam and tell them that you need their advice on the best way to set up your system. Be prepare to spent at least an hour there while they show you the parts you'll need. Bring $$$$... heeheehee.

Btw.... the ScubaCam ppl could mod your tray for you if needed. Need to pay extra abit only. And DIN... call me if you need help. I'll be making a trip to the need Dive Shop tomorr afternoon....

  • Thanks diver-hloc for the offer. I will definitely need your help on the arm and strobe. Right now, still doing research. I cant decide on which camera to go for yet. Most probably canon.

  • hey din - whatever choice you decide on, make sure your setup supports buying a good wide-angle lens. I just did a review on the S&S DX-2G showing how a fisheye lens can be attached to it.
