Buying Equipment off the internet
« on: 10 Jun 10, 15:19 »
Have anyone purchase any diving equipment off the internet before?

Is it what you expect?

Is the price more competitive?

I have bought a dive computer Sunnto D4 for my boyfriend late last year off the internet.

Got a very good price (at least $200 off the retail price) for it plus it got warranty and its working wonderful.

Comes with the box and stickers etc. It comes just the way it would have off the shelves.  ;D

I bought my Titan LX reg for almost 40% cheaper over the net  ;D

It was off a forum or something. He met up with me to pass me the reg after we agreed on the price on the forum.

The only thing with the reg is that the 1st and 2nd stage comes seperate so i have to go to a dive shop to get it assemble. I also took the opportunity to get it tested.

Not sure if it comes with warranty but the guy told me that i can contact him if there's any problem.

But i never did or never have too coz the reg has been with me for at least 2 years and its working fine.

Well, for me, i think it's better that what i expect as the 1st and 2nd stage were still in their respective box when i got it  :D

I got my direct from force fins website for about SGD$195. They have this promotion last year with discounts and free shipping to Asia. Its a bargain considering the retail price in Singapore here and bungee cord will set me back around $400-ish. Thats competitive with a big C.

Actually i've purchase something off this forum. Not exactly equipment. Just a pointer.
But im extremely happy with it coz im quite particular with the pointer. I like one with markings , smooth edges and a "hook"/ "coil" to attach to my BC or around my wrist.

Dun think i 've gotten it very cheap like aquaman and Din but i think i've got a good deal for the price i've paid.  :D

By the way, DIN u really got a VERY VERY good deal for your force fins.

I think i got mine for about $400 with the bungee strap at Divemaster Pratama and that was more than 6 years ago.

What happen to inflation ?  ???

Im feeling sore already  >:(

Only bad experience I'd was trying to buy a dirt cheap $5 SMB from HK that never reached my hands (ebay). Even that wasn't so bad since the dude refunded my money (had to wait 21 days before I could ask for it though). My general take is buy insurance for any item purchased overseas, more so for big ticket items. In fact, I bought my Conshelf XIV reg (date stamp 1979) coupled with extra hoses and mouth pieces and fully rebuilt couple of years back for $150 bucks. You'll have to pry that reg offa my cold blue lips when I'm dead though since it's probably the last reg set I'll ever buy (love the amt of air delivered and the chrome).
