i happily fitted everything into a normal 24" luggage bag until i realised... i haven't pack in my fins... :( Need to hunt for new bag...

For those soft case style bags, do you check them in?
Are you worried that your equipment will get spoilt by the way they handle luggage bags?
Have they ever been spoilt cos of this?

The bags are from a dive shop?

Thanks!

aloe: I consider this bag to be 'soft style' and I check in all the time. There's a certain level of worry but after a while it gets numb.  :P

As the gear gets older, the lesser pain you will feel  ;D

I need a real light weight bag...
Two things have altered not
Since first the World began
The beauty of the wild green earth
And the bravery of Man

just take your regs out and hand-carry if you feel really squeamish. fins, BCDs and wetsuits are pretty hard to break.
