Hi!

You can take an overnight bus from Larkin (Johor Bahru) to Kuala Terengganu. Here's my usual route:

1) Singapore --> Larkin (JB)  -- SBS bus 170

2) Larkin (JB) --> Jerteh         -- there are many bus providers doing this route, usually terminating at Kota Bahru passing by Jerteh/Jertih. I always take the one around 8/9PM reaching Jerteh at 6/7AM. Can check easybook.com for example

3) Jerteh --> Kuala Besut Jetty    -- taxi (20-30MYR)

4) Kuala Besut Jetty --> Perhentian Island  -- speedboat (75MYR)

It's definitely a long journey, but I find it okay as I can reach Perhentian by 9/10AM and on the last day I can do 2/3 dives and leave by the 4PM boat back to Kuala Besut before taking the 10PM bus back from Jerteh to JB.

Else you can consider flying to Kota Bahru (1-2hrs away from Kuala Besut) but I think it's not so convenient and kinda expensive too.

Hope this helps :)

I notice some of the bus to Kuantan do stop drop/pick passages at Mersing, can try that. But note the roundabout and jetty can be a distance especially with dive gears. mx player for pc

Hmmm apologies I haven't really logged in after such a long time...

And I actually did a trip to Tenggol back in 2019 so I really hope this helps (once we all can travel again)

1. Bus from Johor
JB Larkin - Dungun
10:30PM
I took 'Adik Beradik express' - couldnt remember if they are the only one serving the route or the one with the best timing for me

2. Taxi (or Grab) from Dungun bus drop-off to Aking Jetty
You will be dropped off pretty early in the morning (I think it was around 6/7AM?)
Get a taxi or grab to A’King Jetty, Jalan RajaWali, Kuala Dungun. N 04-47.078’ E 103⁰25.213 龙云码头

3. Boat to Tenggol Island
If you are staying at Tenggol Island, I believe they have 1x boat each morning around 10 or 10.30AM
The boat back to Dungun from the island is around 8AM.
Should take around 30 mins one-way.

I was staying on the island itself, hence I had to make the boat trip to Tenggol (pre-arranged by the dive shop)
If you are getting accommodation and dive shop in Dungun then you can skip this and just ask the taxi/grab to drive you to the dive shop.

4. Back to JB/SG
I took a bus by the same operator at 10:40AM to Johor Bahru Larkin
