Title: Ears popping after dive
Post by: TSH on 20 Jan 16, 14:22
I am asking on behalf of my friend. We went for a dive early part of Jan 2016.

After close to 3 weeks, he mentioned his ears will automatically "pop" now and then, like a few times a day. even now. He hasn't dived for 10 years before this trip. We dived to quite shallow waters, maybe around 10 - 12metres. Everything was normal, duration of each dive was around 50mins.

Is his ears popping a cause for concern?

If worry can go for doctor check up.. My dive centre gave a list of doctors that are pro in diving related matters.. For my own case, my ears popped for around 2 weeks after i came back.. After that it disappeared by itself..

Isn't really serious... happened to me years ago too... disappeared about a week after the dive... but is worry, then best get a doctor to take a look...

thanks for your replies!, his ears are actually still popping now, 3 weeks after the dive. but thanks for your advice, hopefully it will go away soon.

Or alternatively you can get a bottle of ear drops from our local pharmacy and use it befor and after each dives. That should clear up. There's also a diy mixture of mixing vinegar and alcohol as a substitute for ear drops.
