Diving in Iceland Silfra
« on: 01 Dec 14, 14:04 »
Hi folks

just want to check if anyone has any experience in diving in Iceland Silfra where the continental plates meet and drift apart?

will be travelling to iceland in 2 weeks time and would love to dive the Tectonic Plate!!
Its winter now so a drysuit course is a must for the dive there?
any recommended Dive Operators?

There was an episode in a Canadian travel show called Descending that covered that. Wonderful vis, great experience in freezing water.

If you need help getting more info, just pm me.

I just did it this past week. They provide all gear including drysuits n overalls. All u need is warm thermals n thick socks n be prepared for e cold. It is a lot of waiting n briefing n gearing up for a short one dive in winter. Mine was 25min in 2-3 degree waters. U can also opt to snorkel as newbies to drysuits like me had to contend with bouyancy issues n leaking drysuit.
Diving.IS was e company i went with.
Canon 5D MK III
Canon 100mm L Macro, Canon 16-35mm L, Canon 8-15mm FE, Nexus Housing
Sony A7R2, A6300 Sony 90mm Macro, Nauticam Housing
Inon Z-240 Strobes, Weefine Video lights, FIT Focus lights
