Shark-like Fish accompanying Mantas in RajaAmpat

Anyone knows what these are ?

There were 2 of them accompanying mantas around a cleaning station and kept coming close to check me out. They are shark-like, with distinct dorsal fins, very fast swimming, huge eyes and look fierce. I kept turning around to fend them off with my fins and camera flash.

The instructor on the dive said they are commonly seen in RA following mantas and harmless. She had a laugh seeing me trying to fend them off underwater.

I think this is the cobia, also known as kingfish.

Yes it's Cobia the Freeloader.. . You can see them following big pelagics like turtle, sharks, manta etc.

Thanks! Mystery solved. Googled and found out that "Cobia is a highly valued seafood species – they're a popular game fish and taste delicious. Not in danger of overfishing"

I think you got it confused with remora or suckerfish.      Cobias are pretty hard swimmers.. haha

Any no worries, cobias do not have sharp teeth.. dun bite.. unless if you are a fish!
