Anyone dived Perhentian??

How about Phu Quoc, off south coast of vietnam? anyone tried before?

Saw an article covering this island, and they mentioned diving is one of the activities to do there.

Haven't been there... but heard that the Vis there isn't too good. Can't confirm, but thats what I heard.

I've read about the dead corals but I'm still quite keen to try diving in Perhentian as it seems good enough for beginners. If I could afford more days I'd like to get my AOW with Turtle Bay (which has many good reviews on TripAdvisor) - anyone dove with them before?

Also, for people who frequent the island, do you book accommodation in advance or most of the guesthouses are based on walk-in? My friends and I will be budget travelling so backpackers area is the way to go.
