Diving in Hong Kong

Hi all

Just got a very last min trip to Hong Kong from this Thursday.

I'm wondering if it's worth to check out the diving in HK, any recommended DCs or spots, and the rough cost.

Most prob if I decide to dive, I'll be renting full gear, and only one day, night dive not necessary.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

For DCs, you can check out Diving Express (in TST), Diving Adventure (in CWB), ProDive (in Wanchai). Their websites would have schedules of local weekend trips and cost etc.
Other than diving, you can consider hiking as the weather is cool now ... around 22-25C.

If u r going on Thursday then I guess you'll have a Saturday to spare for diving. I don't have such luck. I went last month and wanna dive for a day too but I only have weekday and they don't do weekdays dive trip.

Hey!!! I wanted to go diving in hongkong too for January trip.
I read a few blogs and it seems the diving is all around sai kung. There are many nice reefs and many marine life like crabs...etc. thing is, because there is a lot of plankton the water is very green and visibility isn't wonderful. But it is good to go see see have a feel of it. Also, I read there are Sharks too. Not many but there are.
I decided not to because I don't want to see green water, and from the photos, I would say it's like pulau hantu.
I recommend bringing a powerful torch.
See the dive sites here: click fun dive. If u click on the dive flags u get name of dive site and click it will tell u what's there. http://www.mandarin-divers.com

Local diving centre writes about what to expect scuba diving in hongkong

Their Facebook has many photos. https://www.facebook.com/SplashHK

Jan/Feb are the coldest months in HK, air temp can be 5C if windy and the water is cold as well.
All outdoor swimming pools are closed as well, unless they are heated.
Think DCs may not have trips during these months.
