DEEP & Extreme Indonesia 2013

Deep and Extreme is annual international diving and extreme sports exhibition in Indonesia. This year, Deep and Extreme Indonesia 2013 was held on last 4-7 April 2013, took place in Jakarta Convention Center, Indonesia. DEEP 2013 was Indonesia’s 7th international diving, adventure travel and water sports exhibition; EXTREME 2013 Indonesia was 5th International extreme sports, outdoor adventure and eco-tourism exhibition.

Targeting 20,000 visitors, PT. Exhibition Network Indonesia hosts more than 130 companies in diving, travel, and adventure sectors. This year, Deep and Extreme Indonesia 2013 has theme of “Students Love Adventure” to introduce and encourage the students and youths interests on these diving, marine, water sports, and extreme activities. The programs include some conference or seminars, talk shows, international underwater photo competition and exhibition, eco campaign, and other demo from the exhibitors.

Besides Bali, there are more and more dive centers coming from other sides of Indonesia taking parts in this Deep and Extreme Indonesia 2013, like Gorontalo, Ambon, Alor, Raja Ampat, Derawan, etc. This provides more options and broaden the dive destinations for divers in Indonesia.

Some magazine also participates, like DiveMag Indonesia had a campaign about “Save Shark”, Scuba Diver AustralAsia Indonesia held the talk show about “Diving for Autistic Children”. Other media like KompasTV and National Geographic also attend this Deep and Extreme Indonesia 2013. Another interesting booth was one booth about the history of scuba diving in Indonesia, presented as Museum Diving Indonesia, where we can see some old and historical diving equipments and the stories.

However, some people found that there are more diving companies than the extreme sports exhibitors. This leads to some disappointment to some sides who come to see some extreme spots than diving. But for divers, this event is an excellent chance to buy some good deals for diving equipments, course, and trips all over Indonesia.
The ticket was quite cheap for only Rp.20.000,- per person, and you can enter and enjoy all events all day long. Outside the convention center, there are also many food stalls you can choose to have your lunch or dinner. Parking ticket is Rp.5.000,- per car per day and no worries, many parking slots available. When it is raining, there will be many ‘umbrella rental’ outside the center which you can pay about Rp.5.000,- per umbrella to use the umbrella to your car in the parking lot.
Overall, this event is one of the most visited exhibition in Indonesia and the most recommended for divers to hunt for good deals either for dive trip, dive course, or diving equipment. Here, you can also meet many experts in scuba diving. See you on the next Deep and Extreme Indonesia!
